Hema Tasker M.A., B.Sc., P.G.C.E.
Hema Tasker Cambridge Science tutor holds a Masters’ Level qualification in Special Educational needs and disabilities. Additionally, she is a Secondary science teacher with over ten years’ experience. This includes teaching Chemistry to A Level and Biology and Chemistry to GCSE.
KS3 Science Co-ordinator
Hema gained teaching experience in two local academies and an international school after gaining her PGCE in Secondary Science from the University of Cambridge. Hema was also the KS3 science coordinator who introduced the new curriculum and assessment structure across a Cambridgeshire MAT. Additionally, she set up bespoke science curricula for students who were not able to attend mainstream education.
Qualified Special Needs and Disabilities teacher
Hema was encouraged to undertake several leadership qualifications following her work as a member of the Senior Leadership in Peterborough. This included a Masters’ Level qualification in Special Educational needs and disabilities. She was then head-hunted for a role where she helped to establish two departments in a new school (SEND and ASD Unit). Hema implemented best practice gained from her Masters’ Course in Special Educational Needs and Disability as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Hema focuses on how students can build confidence in a subject as well as gain the skills needed to extend their knowledge. Furthermore, she too has continued to develop as a teacher since completing her qualification in 2018.
Hema is a keen Chemist and has continued to keep abreast of developments. She enjoys developing STEM club curricula and activities for children to extend their knowledge beyond the school curriculum. In her spare time Hema aspires to go to the gym and eat fewer cakes.
