Although the summer holidays are a fabulous time for children to rest and take a break from their normal school timetables, many parents like to help their children catch up and get ahead with a series of private lessons during the summer holidays. This has the added benefit of helping their children avoid the summer learning loss, a phenomenon in which children can forget potentially significant amounts of what they learnt at school during the year.

Writing Competition
There’s still time for students to enter this year’s Excelr8 Learning Writing Competition with the hope of winning a brand new mountain bike AND £200 for each of the winners’ schools.
To make the task of writing interesting for the writer, whatever is being written needs to have an audience. When you write a diary for example, that’s usually for yourself, a reminder of some event or what occurred on a particular day. You gain satisfaction for yourself. However, writing stories and poems can seem a bit pointless unless you know someone is actually going to read them. So with the Excelr8 Learning Writing Competition, children know that someone will definitely be reading their writing, and looking to see how well it’s been written. For the child this creates a strong reason to write as well as they can. It’s for a real purpose. So if your child hasn’t sent in an entry yet and you’d like to encourage writing, it’s not too late. The last day for entries to be received is June 10th. click on this link to find out more. http://www.excelr8learning.co.uk/index.php/private-tuition-centres/writing-competitions
I don’t know what to write
How often have teachers and parents heard children say that? Here at Excelr8 Learning, however, we understand that helping children to improve their writing skills is an important and sometimes challenging task. Sometimes called Written Expression, sometimes called Creative Writing, sometimes simply referred to as Writing, the task is the same: helping children to improve their abilities to express thoughts and ideas in writing. We provide stimulating and interesting strategies to help children get started and to enable them to produce varied pieces of interesting and well written work. Some children do require a lot of support to get started. Our positive and successful strategies gradually help such children to overcome whatever blocks there are that are stopping them from getting started. If you’ve heard your child make this statement, please talk to our teachers to find out how we can help.
